Why is this page needed?

The Attribution requirement helps the judges know what you did yourselves and what you had help with. We don't mind if you get help with difficult or complex techniques, but you must report what work your team did and what work was done by others.

For example, you might choose to work with an animal model during your project. Working with animals requires getting a license and applying far in advance to conduct certain experiments in many countries. This is difficult to achieve during the course of a summer, but much easier if you can work with a postdoc or PI who has the right licenses.

2018 UIUC Illinois iGEM Team

The UIUC Illinois iGEM undergraduates were responsible for almost every aspect of the iGEM project, from project development to wiki design to performing and scheduling experiments to preparing the presentation but they could not have done it without the help of many experienced individuals! Many thanks to everyone who contributed time, funds, experience, thoughts, space, tools, and skill to the success of UIUC Illinois iGEM team.

Amie Bott: Human practice, Wet lab

Pranathi Karumanchi: Wiki, Wet lab

Alex Ruzicka: Bio-Brick, Wet lab

Ziyu Wang : Wiki, Wet lab

Liam Healy: Modeling, Wet lab

IGB/ CABBI Advisors

Dr. Ting Lu, the head of our project. He got us in contact with his post-doc, Wentao Kong for insight on the growing conditions of L-lactis and provided us with strains of L-lactis and other resources for L-lactis.

Courtney Fenlon and Elizabeth Murphy helped with setting up our outreach events, reviewing our presentations/work and gave moral support.

Graduate Advisors

Shekhar Mishra, Carl Schultz, and Matthew Waugh played an integral role in the design and execution of the wetlab portion of our project, from construct design to advice on carrying out specific protocols.

Special Thanks!

Ran Chao and Matt Riggs for taking the time to talk to us about our project and share their thoughts on how to improve it.

Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology (IGB) and Center for Advanced Bioenergy and Bioproducts Innovation (CABBI) for for providing us with lab space and funding our resources to conduct our iGEM project for 2018.

Huimin Zhao Lab for sharing lab space and equipment/resources with us.

Kate Janssen for providing us with lab safety orientation and ordering materials.

WashU iGEM team for attending our meet up and collaborating with us.

IDT for giving us 20,000 free base pairs

BioBasic for sending us lab supplies

New England Biolabs for sending us lab supplies

Department of Energy for funding us

MathWorks for giving us MatLab
