RNA Day

On RNA day, which was August 1, 2018, our team decided to help the collegiate team at a booth set up at the Farmers Market in Downtown Lethbridge. This Public Engagement activity would introduce members of our community to learn about iGEM as well as both the collegiate and high school iGEM teams projects. Our booth interacted with the community by having different activities, such as colouring sheets, as well as marshmallows and toothpicks to create structures. People at the Farmers Market were even able to conduct an experiment, which allowed them to venture into the types of activities members of iGEM partake in.

Whoop Up Days

Our team, as well as members of the Lethbridge Collegiate team had a Innovation Pavillion at Whoop Up Days to promote synthetic biology, our project and fundraise. The booth allowed individuals to learn how to pipette, make different marshmallow structures, as well as introduce them to what iGEM was. We were even able to fundraise and raise over $100 in donation through selling stickers, that were designed by team members. Overall, the booth was successful and members of our community were able to have a greater appreciation for science.
