UIUC Illinois 2018 iGEM Team

The UIUC Illinois 2018 iGEM Team is made up of 3 biochemistry majors and 2 molecular and cellular biology majors who all want to attend graduate school except for one. Outside of their academic life, they participate in activities ranging from building bionic arms to taking the blood pressure of patients. They spent a whole summer and the beginning of the Fall 2018 semster working together with the guidance of mentors Shekar Mishra, Carl Shultz and Mathew Waugh.

Pranathi Karumanchi

Junior | Wet Lab | Major: Molecular and Cellular Biology | Minor: Psychology

Pranathi is a Biology major from the northwest suburbs of Chicago, and is passionate about thriller novels. In addition to working on the iGEM project, she is the screening coordinator for the student organization Illini Medical Screening Society. Pranathi hopes to become a doctor, but is not sure about which type. Honestly, should would rather just be binge watching shows on Netflix or reading a good triller novel.
