MEMBERS

The 2018 ECUST team consists of 14 undergraduate students from different majors, who are energetic, considerate, and diligent. They design and develop the project independently and try their best to make contributions to synthetic biology and the whole world. At the same time, they were also instructed by several teachers from East China University of Science and Technology, who escorted the 2018 ECUST iGEM.

STUDENTS

Li Fengting: He majors in biotechnology, loves life sciences, likes to make assumptions and hypotheses about the scientific phenomena around him, and has a high enthusiasm for biological subjects. Engaged in botany and microbiology research. Hobbies are tennis and fishing.

Teng Xinyu: She loves biology and hope to continue in this field. Interested in basic biology and metabolic mechanisms, her overgraduate will be involved in membrane protein related research. She likes reading books and having trips, loving the present and the future.

Xu Wenhao: He is passionate about assembling electronic circuits and is good at designing models. He interested in ncRNA, and will also be engaged in research work in this area. His hobbies are photography and design machinery.

Zhao Jingjing: Biotechnology major, graduate students in the field of immunization, love biomedicine, hope that the future can combine artificial intelligence and biomedical fields to create more possibilities. Like fitness, like the rhythm of regular life.

Xie Tingting: It is a person with a wide range of hobbies and curiosity. Interested in all areas where problems can be solved, whether synthetic or fermentative. The ambition is to fight for decades in the 21st century, a century that belongs to biology.

Tang Dingyue: He is good at learning, likes to do experiments. You can always see his figure in the laboratory; likes life science, love to explore the mystery of human and nature, trying to solve the major problems of disease health.

Xing Zheng: He is majoring in bioengineering. Interest is mathematics and computers. Specialties are computer and organizational planning. Interested in the direction of bioinfornmatics, he will continue to learn in this area in the future.

Xiao Zhihong: He majors in bioengineering, specializes in planning, organization and management with great enthusiasm for the biological field. And he is very interested in synthetic biology and biopharmaceuticals.

Shi Jianan: As a student majoring in Bioengineering, she believes science is the ultimate answer to most questions, whether practical or theoretical, and being an engineer is her dream job. In her spare time, she usually chooses to hang out with her friends, which turns out to be quite relaxing and refreshing to her.

Hong Xiujing: She is interested in immunology and artificial intelligence. She usually likes to draw and read books and jog.

Pan Birui: He is very eager to continue his studies in the field of biology. Hoping to be on a higher platform, he explores the mechanism of cell action and signal transmission through biophysics and immunology. He hopes to continue to study the upstream direction of biological science and usually like playing badminton.

Nian Keqing: She is very interested in cardiovascular disease and decided to go abroad for further study about cardiovascular disease for the benefit of mankind. In her free time, she likes to listen to music and read books. Enrich her life while completing learning tasks.

Wang Bowei: He is a senior student who majors in Information Engineering. Fascinating by the rapid development of synthetic biology, he enjoys solving biological problems using computer science technology. Also he loves food and jogging. In the future, he hopes to work as a Bioinformatician and develop new biological insight.

Huang Luxin: She loves illustration, design, photography and everything related to art. She usually like visiting exhibitions and markets, also making jewelry designs myself. She can play piano and bands. Passionate personality, easy-going, she can be a good leader or a competent assistant.

Chen Zhigang:He is a senior student, majoring in information engineering, who is interested in math. In the process of information processing there are a lot of mathematical theories, and information processing is very practical, so he would like to devote himself to information processing in the future.

SUPERVISORS

Zhang Lixin: For the first time in the world, he discovered that the apoptotic kinase ASK1 and the signaling protein 14-3-3 are closely linked to regulate the cancer process. Currently engaged in the construction of natural microbial resource pools of marine microbial strains; screening of active microorganisms and their secondary metabolites using interactive high-throughput techniques

Zhuang Yingping:Ph.D. In recent years, she has developed a theoretical method based on parameter correlation analysis in multi-scale fermentation processes and successfully applied in many industrial fermentation products.

Wang Qiyao: Ph.D., mainly engaged in the research on pathogenic mechanism of pathogenic bacteria in marine animals.

Tan Gaoyi: Ph.D., mainly engaged in research on microbial secondary metabolism and metabolic engineering. He has published more than ten papers in famous international journals such as Biotechnology and Bioengineering, ACS Synthetic Biology and Metabolic Engineering.

Li Youyuan: Ph.D. Engaged in fermentation process optimization and microbial metabolic regulation research, proteomics research, and served as a teaching. He published many papers in bioinformatics.

Wu Hui: Doctor of Engineering, Associate Professor. He is currently the deputy director of China Light Industry Bio-based Materials Engineering Key Laboratory. In recent years, he has been the first author or correspondent author in Metabolic Engineering, Biotechnology Advances, ACS Synthetic Biology, etc.

Zhou Mian: Ph.D., Associate Professor. She is engaged in the study of the effects of codon usage on protein expression, folding, and function. The research results were published in journals such as Nature, Molecular Microbiology, and EMBO Reports.

Quan Shu: Professor. Her representative research results published in Elife, Nature Structural & Molecular Biology. The research interest is to establish methods and means to transform the stability of proteins, to analyze the structure and mechanism of molecular chaperone proteins, which are closely related to protein folding.

Cai Menghao: Ph.D. Associate professor. In recent years, he has published more than 20 papers in SCI in the key journals such as Metabolic Engineering, Biotechnology Advances, ACS Synthetic Biology, Applied and Environmental Microbiology, Biotechnology and Bioengineering. His main research areas are synthetic biology and metabolic engineering of pharmaceutical compounds;

Zuo Peng: Ph.D. Associate Professor, mainly engaged in the construction and application of nano-enhanced signal amplification systems, the construction of enzyme-catalyzed signal amplification methods, and the construction and application of nano-functionalized microfluidic systems.

Xia Jianye: Ph.D. His main research areas are experimental and numerical simulation studies of flow field characteristics of bioreactors and theoretical and applied techniques of biological process amplification methods based on cell physiological characteristics and reactor flow field characteristics.

Bai Yunpeng: Ph.D. He is mainly engaged in the research and application of novel biocatalytic reactions, protein molecular engineering and bio-chemical nanocomposite catalysis based on high-throughput screening.

Zhou Shengmin: Ph.D. Associate professor, his research areas are the molecular biology of environmental microorganisms, pathogenic microorganisms and industrial microorganisms. Explore many functional genes related to microbial environmental stress, signal transduction and secondary metabolic regulation.
