Team Leader
You is a sophomore and belongs to the faculty of agriculture. She is the leader of the iGEM Kyoto 2018 team. She always makes the team members laugh with her humorous sense and everyone loves her passion and brightness. She says that by getting various knowledge through iGEM, my curiosity for science has deepened even more. In free time, she often hangs out around Kyoto and visits aquarium, temples, and shrine. She also likes traveling so she is really excited to go to Boston and participate in Giant Jamboree!!
Akiko Hukuda
Accounting Manager
Akiko is a junior and belongs to the faculty of science. be liked by someone because of one's gentle nature There are various activities in a project (such as experiment, human practice, modeling, web design, presentation, etc.). That's why each member can show their individuality to contribute to achieving their common goal. Her hobby is to draw a picture. She likes to paint pictures of people and animals and this year, she has done most of the design work. We love her character and also her drawing!!
Kako Nakazato

Kako is a junior and belongs to the faculty of education. She was fascinated in iGEM that she gets to know the interesting part of biology and undergraduates making the project by themselves.
She loves to sing, dance and eat soybean product.She is good at imitating the call of chicken and horse.
Ikumi Tsuzuki
Experiment/ Stock Manager
Ikumi is a sophomore and belongs to the faculty of agriculture. She likes the environment of iGEM that she can make a practical use of what she learned in the field of genetic engineering. She loves to read a mystery novel in a warm bed during the winter season.
Masahiro Nanbu
Experiment/ Human Practice
Masahiro is a sophomore and belongs to the faculty of agriculture. He is interested in microbiology. He sometimes feels iGEM activity a hard work, but he also feels progressing day by day.
He enjoys outdoor amusement, for example, mountain climbing and fishing. I want to see and touch a lot of living creatures and nature in the world.
Genki Sato
Modeling
Genki is a freshman and belongs to the faculty of agriculture. He likes the environment of igem that he can actually use my knowledge of biology he learned at high school and university. There are few opportunities that we could work outside the classroom so igem seems to be a great place to study for him!
He likes watching a movie and making Visual Effects of movies. After the iGEM competition, we want to watch a movie with his recommendation!
Masaaki Shimazoe

Masaaki is a freshman and belongs to the faculty of science. He says that during the activity of iGEM, many ideas will pop out in a rapid succession and he is happy about that.
He loves to listen to music. Sometimes he turns the music on in our lab, but other member has never mentioned it. I wonder what other members think about that…
Kento Tamukai
Experiment/ Human Practice
Kento is a freshman and belongs to the faculty of medicine. His dream is to become a clinical doctor who can do both clinical treatment and medical research. Through iGEM activity, he learned the basics of a science experiment and what kind of research is done in cutting-edge. His hobby is to cook. He says that cooking and experiment are alike in that you cannot expect what will come out until the very end.
Mentor
Dr. Makoto Kitabatake (Institute for Frontier Life and Medical Sciences, Kyoto University) helped us all through our project, provided us with a laboratory, and gave us professional advice as well as training us on the experiment of S. cerevisiae and RNA. In addition, he helped collect and analysis experiment data, and reform our wiki writing. He also gave us safety education and ethics education.
Dr. Knut Woltjen (Center of iPS Cell Research and Application, and Hakubi Center for Advanced Research, Kyoto University) helped us all through our project, and gave us professional advice.
