Description
Eutrophication is a very serious environmental problem in China. Eutrophication is mainly caused by the excessive phosphorus and nitrogen contents during pollutant emissions. To solve
this problem, the phosphorus content control is crucial. However, from another perspective, phosphorus is almost a nonrenewable resource due to its unique recycling characteristics. In
our project, we aim to create a “bioconveyer” system to remove phosphorus as well as to recycle it. To achieve the recycling, we must give the bacteria a switch system to allow it absorb
phosphorus in one condition (pollutant pool) and release phosphorus in another condition (recycling pool). This device is made by a lightcontrol system. What’s more, in this “bioconveyer”
system, to give the conveyer a matrix and to improve the removal of the other pollutant like nitrogen, we use another device to build an algaebacteria symbiotic biofilm system. With the
introduction of multi organisms, the efficiency of P recycling can perform better.
