InterLab
Bronze Medal Criterion #4
Gaining reliable data has always been an important goal for Biology study. However, although previous study have shown ways to reduce variability between labs, the number of cells in a sample still remains as a great source of variability .
For the InterLab study this year, iGEM wishes to minimize lab-to-lab variability as greatly as possible. And instead of OD, we tend to achieve it by normalizing to absolute cell count or colony-forming units (CFUs) in fluorescence measurements. We used the competent cell given by protocol(E.coli DH5-alpha) and six devices for measurements(BBa_J364000 ,BBa_J364001, BBa_J364002, BBa_J364007, BBa_J364008, BBa_J364009 ) plus two devices for negative and positive control(BBa_R0040 ,BBa_I20270 ).
By spending time in participating the InterLab study, we learned a lot and gained more experiences. It was quite challenging, but it was indeed a memorable and precious time for us to go through.
