Parts

We have isolated and characterized a collection of 27 promoters in E. coli, related to a variety of endogenous stress responses, ranging from DNA damage to misfolded protein response. These promoter BioBricks were designed to be combined with fluorophore and chromoprotein reporters, in order to Read more about our visualisation system on our Project Description page visualize bacterial cell stress. We have also submitted a selection of our promoters already coupled to fluorophore and chromoprotein reporters in the form of composite parts. Additionally, we have submitted BioBricks with amplified stress GFP signals, to make stress detection even easier. As a collection, our promoters serve as an extensive stress screening system in E. coli, which can be used for antibiotic screening. Additionally, the wide variety of promoters in our collection allows them to be used for many other purposes in future research and iGEM projects.
