Dutch mini jamboree in Eindhoven

Dates: October 19, 2018

Location: Eindhoven, The Netherlands

Description: Last year, iGEM Eindhoven organized a Mini jamboree to practice for the real deal in Boston. Due to positive feedback, we will be back this year with a second edition! During the afternoon, you will get the opportunity to practice your presentations and poster sessions in the presence of an experienced jury.

iGEM Shanghai Meetup

Dates: October 14, 2018

Location: Shanghai Botanical Garden

Description: Organized by team SHSID_China and SHSU_China, this meetup event will help iGEM teams to better prepare for the upcoming Giant Jamboree. iGEM teams from Shanghai will practise their presentations and share their ideas at this meetup.

Northern China High School Meet Up

Dates: October 4, 2018

Location: Beijing Foreign Studies University(exact location TBD)

Description: To prepare for the upcoming Giant Jamboree, high school teams in Northern China are going to meet, go through presentations and Q&A, debug each other’s project. Also, discuss the current problems and future plans of high school teams in China.

Biotech4Change (European Commission Biotech Event)

Dates: 28th of September

Location: Brussels (EU parliament)

Description: We are organizing an event that will take place… in the European Parliament in Brussels. We are gathering biotech speakers from across Europe to build a large scale inspiring event. The event will take place on the 28 of September afternoon, but we have prepared a day long great program for iGEMers, the entrance will be free! (no charges) but inscription is compulsory before sep 21st The event will be in two parts. During the first one, a limited number of iGEM teams will be able to present their project in 3 minutes in front of this European public of scientists. During the second part, we will have the honor of receiving internationally renowned researchers who have unlocked millions of euros to launch their biotech start up, that will tell us their inspiring background and professional journeys

Symposium "Limits of Life"

Dates: September 22, 2018, 9:00-15:00

Location: Siegbahnsalen, Ångstromlaboratoriet, Uppsala University, Uppsala, Sweden

Description: Teams of Uppsala, Stockholm and Lund are together organizing this one day event to give a platform for discussion about limits of technology and humans. The symposium will consist of two sessions: "Understanding your limits", shedding light on the subject of how to stay relaxed at work and master your day in science; "Hacking Life" - opens up a discussion about technological and ethical limits of biohacking. iGEM Biotechnology Conference

London iGEM trouble shooting meet-up

We, the London university teams (Imperial, UCL, King’s and Westminster), are organising a social meet-up at King’s College London on the 16th of September where we will share issues that each team is facing and collectively solve them together. We believe that even though we are competing against each other in the iGEM competition, we are all still part of the same iGEM family, and family help each other always. So we, your London siblings, are calling out to all our sibling iGEM teams across the UK and further to join us at KCL where we can meet, talk and solve our problems together.

iGEM National Science Congress

iGEM 2018 Turkey Meet-Up

Dates: September 8, 2018

Location: METU DF Convention Center, Ankara,Turkey

Description: iGEM Turkey Meetup is a chance for all Turkey teams to unite under one roof for one day and share their iGEM experience so far. We are organizing this event in order to establish a warm and sincere environment in which iGEM’ers can socialize and share ideas. Furthermore, researchers from prominent universities in Turkey will talk about biotechnology and synthetic biology and the teams attending will present their projects. As METU_HS_Ankara team this will be the first meet-up we host and we are looking forward to seeing iGEM teams in Ankara, Turkey.

The fifth Conference of China iGEMer Community (CCiC)

Dates: August 27th, 2018-August 31st, 2018 (August 27th is the day for check-in)

Spanish Meet Up

Dates: August 18-20, 2018

Location: Barcelona, Spain

Description: This summer the iGEM UPF CRG team will be hosting the first iGEM Spanish MeetUp, since it is the first year with more than 2 teams are registered. The MeetUp will be developed in Barcelona, Spain, in the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB), just next to the beach. Any team from around is more than welcome. Each team will be able to do a project presentation and after that we’ll listen to some scientific talks from invited scientists. Pacific Northwest Meetup

Dates: August 18-19, 2018

Description: This year the Washington iGEM team will be hosting our first ever meetup for the Pacific Northwest, located in Seattle, WA, USA! Despite being called the "Pacific Northwest Meetup," any team from around the world is invited to participate! We'll be having industry panels, After iGEM panels, workshops, and mock poster and presentation sessions for teams to learn more about iGEM and the world of synthetic biology while also helping to prepare everyone for the jamboree. Dutch BBQ and Meet-Up

Dates: August 17, 2018

Location: Leiden, the Netherlands

Description: iGEM Leiden is hosting the "Dutch BBQ and Meet-Up"  on August 17th in Leiden. The name is pretty explanatory! We will have a grill going and will provide food and drinks so the teams can get to know each other in a relaxing atmosphere. From around 5pm we will start with some drinks and light up the BBQ.

Summer Mediterranean Meet Up

All India iGEM Meetup

Dates: July 27-29, 2018

Location: Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore

Description: A countrywide meetup where around seven Indian iGEM teams will discuss their project ideas, interact with each other and share their knowledge of synthetic biology. We will be having mock presentations and a poster session, where a committee of judges will send anonymous feedback to teams about their project, along with talks by researchers from the institute.

iGEM Eurasian meet-up 2018

Dates: July 24-26, 2018

Location: Shenzhen, China

Description: Are you curious, adventurous and up for something special this summer? Then join the iGEM teams of BGI College and TU Delft in the very first iGEM Eurasian meetup this upcoming July in Shenzhen! For three days BGI College will not only provide you guys with an exotic location and TU Delft with delicious meals but also workshops, interesting presentations and the ultimate opportunity for getting to know a new culture and people from all over the world! It will be an opportunity to share your ideas, meet new people from a different continent and get your project to an even higher level. As a special feature, we also give the opportunity to connect with other iGEM overgraduate, undergraduate and high school teams even before the meet-up!

North American Kick-Off Event

Description: The University of Calgary will be hosting an iGEM Kick-Off event. Latin American Meetup

Mid-Atlantic Meetup

Description: Team UMaryland is hosting this years Mid-Atlantic Meetup, giving teams an opportunity to practice presenting their ideas and exchange feedback with other iGEM teams in the Mid-Atlantic Area! Each team will be giving a short presentation followed by a Q&A, and we will have coffee breaks and lunch in between. We’ll also be hosting guest speakers to talk about their experience in synthetic biology from a broad range of backgrounds.

4th Annual Parisian Meetup

Description: Pasteur Paris iGEM team will host the 4th annual Parisian Meetup inside our institute. Every team participating will be given the chance to present their project in front of a jury composed of various professionals. The University Joint Conference of the iGEM Competition China Division

Description: From July 6th to July 7th, 2018, NKU_China held The University Joint Conference of the iGEM Competition in Nankai University, and invited 10 teams from nine universities including Peking University and Fudan University to come to Nankai University to exchange experiments, seek experimental cooperation and make progress together; On the morning of 7th, we jointly held an iGEM offline publicity activity, popularize our experimental projects and progress, and lead the audience to visit iGEM Lab of Nankai University to let more people know about our projects and understand iGEM and synthetic biology.

Northeastern iGEM Meetup (NEGEM)

Scottish iGEM Meetup

Nordic iGEM Conference

Dates: June 8-10, 2018

Location: Lund, Sweden

Description: The purpose of the conference is primarily to strengthen the ties between Nordic iGEM teams and their respective universities. A mini-jamboree event will take place where teams get to present and get feedback by judges in life sciences and scientific communication. There will also be workshops, lectures, sightseeing and networking activities. Finally, the conference is wrapped up with a final gala dinner announcing the winners.

iGEM Southern China Regional Meeting

6th Annual BioBrick Tutorial at DTU

Dates: April 13-15, 2018

Description: DTU will host the 6th Annual BioBrick Tutorial April 13-15. The workshop is a combination of hands-on BioBrick assembly tutorial in the lab, presentations, and a chance to get to know each other.

iGEM Japan Kansai Forum
