Human practices
Overview
As Peter Carr says,"Human Practices is the study of how your work affects the world, and how the world affects your work". We think,the iGEM is colorful, and we should combine science with the society, towards our vision of a healthier, greener and sustainable world. This year, we mainly focus on infectious microbes and unpleasant smell in external environment trash can, and internal environment armpit. Throughout our project, we interviewed some related stakeholders, consulted with experts of different aspects and communicated with common people to evaluate our project and get some feedback to improve it. What’s more, it’s an public engagement and education that we aim to show the magic and applications of synthetic biology.
Intergrated Human Practices
To ensure that our project would stay on track to tackle real-life problems, we continuously sought input from people working ‘in the field’, talk to stakeholders and so on. We got some feedback from human practice, which conducted and improved our project.
Engagement
&
Public Education
We held a summer camp about synthetic biology, public activities and some interesting games. Based on our project, we made a handbook to popularize bacteriostatic knowledge and get more people to know about us.
Collaboration
We collaborated with many other iGEM teams during the course of our project, with whom we set up good friendship and keep communication. Besides, we helped each other to measure some data. Here we want to show our sincere gratitude to them.
