Solution to the problems: perform the experiments in anaerobic conditions as in the paper, or perform the experiments in a chemically reducing environment using reductants that we add to the plates and solutions. Reductants he advised to use: DTT, NaS3O, ferrocyanide (ferrycinade reduced form).
