What Have We Done?

Our team have engineered a library of sRNAs that are able to target the 3’ UTR in order to down-regulate protein expression in bacteria.

Our project is based on a “Proof of Concept” principle and we have used E.coli K12 to test this. Down-regulation of genes has been quantitively assessed through GFP expression. We hope that future scientists will be able to use our novel tool in order to tackle issues such as antibiotic resistance.
