In our collaboration with University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS), we took up most of art-designing project. In order to make the profound knowledge more accessible to ordinary people, we decided to demonstrate synthetic biology in the form of animation and cartoon. Our team member Jiang Shujuan successfully designed a series of imaginative illustrations, greatly enriched the details of wiki pages. Moreover, we worked together to develop a calender about synthetic biology, a gift representing the everlasting friendship between our schools. Our team had already proved that the interaction between emrR and salicylic acid is an effective controlling method in gene expression, but in order to arrive at a more accurate conclusion, we needed repeat our experiments in a series of independent tests. In the collaboration with UCAS, HBUT and UESTC, theses teams successfully validated the SA-emrR system in controlling expression under our guidance, which testified its unlimited potential for gene-regulation in synthetic biology.
OUC-China is always our constant companion and excellent partner. In this year’s collaboration, they offered us a comic book about synthetic biology. The book exhibited the complex biology model and principle with funny comics, making it more easier for students initial contact. During our voluntary project and introductory courses this comic book greatly facilitated us to introduce synthetic biology to the public. In turn, we helped to make a detailed investigation and counted the readers’ opinions about this book, which would do enormous help in further revision of the top.
ZJUT-China had a similar topic in this year’s iGEM competition. Both concerned with the effects of antibiotics on people’s health, we agreed that the abuse of antibiotics is a serious hazard to public citizens. As a result, we established a collaborating program to produce a manifesto, calling for laws to regulate the use of antibiotics and biotechnology. Our project aims to enhance the whole nation’s awareness of the danger incident to the overuse of antibiotics and.
