We could not have come this far without the aid of others. Thank you to everyone who believed in our project, and shared your knowledge and time with us.
Inspiration
Our project was inspired by the works of iGEM Peking 2015. We decided to improve on this, exchanging the split reporter enzyme with beta-lactamase. When cleaving the substrate nitrocefine, it produces a change in colour visible to the naked eye. Our decision to apply this to detecting vulvovaginal Candida albicans stemmed from the public lack of knowledge concerning the subject, and increasing antimycotic resistance.
